The YK Stone Difference

We respond promptly to your call or e-mail. We answer all of your questions about your project during estimate. To help us better understand your project, please print out the measuring table, fill it out as much as possible and fax, e-mail, or simply bring it with you when you come in to look at the materials. The layout drawing should be with approximate wall to wall dimensions, sink and cooktop placement, then based on your drawing we can provide you with an estimate. You can also use our online contact form to send us your layout and measurements for a faster turnaround. If you have not yet chosen your granite selection, we can give you prices based on the different price groups of granite or quartz materials available in our yard.

The Showroom

You have ideas and we have experts who will guide you and bring your imagination into reality. Bring any samples such as a cabinet"s door, tile, floors & wall paint to work with colors and styles. Our interior designers, Kate and Jan, will answer any questions you may have and help you choose a proper design for your project. We strive to carry the most finest granites and hard surface material for you to choose from- Granite Slabs, Marble Slabs, Caesarstone Quartz Slabs, Silestone Quartz Slabs, Cambrias Quartz Slabs, as well as small remnants for your smaller projects. We also carry a Silgranite Blanco sinks, as well as stock Porcelain (Vitra China), Stainless Steel and Glass sinks for kitchen, bars, vanities, & laundry rooms.

Templating

For templating, we do not need to remove your existing countertops- so you can use current countertop until installation day. In order to complete the template, your cabinets should be properly installed & leveled in order for us to perfectly install the countertops. We use newest digital laser technology, it is much faster and is reliable as well as we don't have to deal with long wooden strips and staple guns. Template takes from 1-2 hrs depending on the size and difficulty of the project – thus all the drawings are digital, providing you with a final quote. All appliances must be at the jobsite during the installation process. Generally from this point, the fabrication will begin and the install is in 7-10 business days.

Fabrication

After we receive your signed approval on the countertops & template, we take a photo of your selected slab with our newest slabsmith photo rendering software, providing you with the ultimate layout of your countertops. When we create your layout, we are looking into all details such as where is the best spot for seams, direction of veins & grain. We have the ability to shape various edges, sink cutouts, corners and shapes that are desired by our customers in our Denver facility with our waterjet machine. We also offer leathering, and honing of the surface of the stone.. Some minor cuts and polishing may be done on job side.

Installation

Generally an average size kitchen countertop installation takes just one day. We will tear out your existing countertops, if your project requires it, and install your beautiful granite countertops in the same day. Our installers will leave your home in exactly the same state it was in when we arrived, that is except for the elegant and functional surfacing project left behind. At YK Stone Center, we know that our excellence in craftsmanship is our best advertisement, no questions asked quality guaranteed. A care and maintenance information sheet as well as a 3-in-one cleaner will be left for you. We will also require a “project completion/project satisfaction" form to be signed.

Side Notes

• Final seam placement on countertops and backsplashes is the fabricator"s responsibility.
• Industry standard granite seams in width  are 1/16" nominal, with a tolerance of ±1/64" according to The Marble Institute of America.
• All sinks, faucets, and appliances have to be on-site for the template. Return trips for these items not on site will cost the responsible party $300.
• If YKSC handles the existing COUNTERTOP tear out, we will not be held responsible for older cabinets that may fall apart. We are not responsible for rebuilding customers" cabinets. We are not responsible for damage to floors, cabinets, wallpaper, paint, etc. during tear outs  or installations. We will take normal measures to protect these areas. 
• YKSC does not re-hook plumbing or appliances and we recommend a plumber or electrician be scheduled the next day.
• Sinks should not be used untill after a 24hr pd after the install.
• The widest unsupported overhang is 10" for 3 cm stone and all supports have to be discussed and if needed- installed prior to the template. YKSC is not responsible for installing these items.
• Granite can stain (usually from oil & acid fluids) so make sure if you have a spill on your top that you wipe it up immediately. Please refer to Care and Maintenance page for more information.
• We complete most of c-top cutouts in our fabrication shop, but some granite installation require aditional cutouts done on site. Installers will try to contain stone dust as much as possible, but there will be some dust after the install. It will settle and can be cleaned later.
• Very tight areas (example, between tall cabinets) can produce minor scratching when setting the stone.
• When installing some large pieces, if the stone is lifted incorrectly, the entire piece can break. This rarely happens and if it does happen a replacement piece will be fabricated as quickly as possible. YKSC is not responsible for expenses due to any delays resulting from a broken piece that has to be re-fabricated.
• Oversized Granite Composite, Cast Iron Undermount sinks usually require a sink base cabinet support frame be built to hold the sink.
